Frequently Asked Questions

Covid-19

Still booking with precautions

As a mother and a nurse, I fully understand the concerns you may have regarding booking during such an unprecedented time! I also feel like my medical background gives me a unique position of being specially equipped for handling your session in the best manner

Rest assured that all precautions will be taken to ensure proper social distancing, thorough cleaning of equipment, and all client wardrobe pieces. I will give verbal prompts, without physically posing etc. I have a variety of lenses, all of which can be used at quite a distance depending on your level of comfort, but can maintain at least a 6 ft distance.

If you or your family test positive for Covid-19 and it interferes with your scheduled session, we will work to reschedule without losing your deposit.

Where Are You Located?

Livonia, MI

I am currently based out of Livonia, Michigan, I am perfectly located for both Ann Arbor, and Detroit area, and I am frequently in the Flint, and Traverse City area as well!

Anything within 30 miles of Livonia is included, beyond that travel fees may apply, depending on the date.

A base travel fee of .50cents per mile will be applied in those cases.

How Would You Describe Your Style?

Warm, rich, light

My style is capturing authentic interactions. I will have more formal poses that I start with, and also use light posing, and prompts to elicit a more genuine reaction and interaction. Much of it is based on the comfort level of YOU! If you want me to direct your every move, I am fully capable of giving a variety of poses and full direction, if you like the more natural side, we can relax, have fun, and get unposed photos!

My editing style is warm, light, with rich colors. I will edit based on location, time of day, outfits, and the vibe I get from the session. If there is particular work of mine that you like, please let me know.

I'm Not Photogenic At All!

You're beautiful, don't worry!

90% of the people I work with say some version of,

"I'm not photogenic!"

"I'm so awkward when it comes to pictures!"

"I am really not comfortable with the weight I'm at."

"I have never had real photos done, I have no idea what to do!"

Trust me, YOU. ARE. BEAUTIFUL. I have yet to have a client that doesn't say afterwards how much fun they ended up having, how I was able to give directions and made them feel comfortable, and when they see the finished product, they can't believe they ever worried! This is part of why it's so important to fill out my questionnaires, so I can fully understand any concerns you have, and make sure they're fully addressed, so that way you can have fun while taking photos!

What Should I Wear?

Personal Virtual Styling Session

If you have followed me on social media, or read any of my Blog posts, you will know that outfit coordination is a key point I focus on for my clients. I offer a virtual styling session where we can discuss your vision and how to achieve it. I also have a beautiful Client Wardrobe that is ever expanding, and that is an exclusive perk for those that choose to work with me!

Beyond that, you will receive a style guide upon booking to help with some basic Do's and Don'ts of choosing your clothes, along with more details regarding hair, makeup, what to expect, and tips to help your session go as smoothly as possible!

I also have Pinterest boards for color palette inspiration and other ideas.

I am always available via email or DM to take a look at outfits you are considering, outfits you have, and I'd also be more than happy to send suggestions if you are looking to purchase!

What if My Kids Don't Cooperate?

I can handle it ;)

As â€‹you have no doubt realized by now, I am a mother, a nurse, and a former daycare provider. The last thing I want is for you to be stressed out, worrying about how your kids will behave, whether we'll get good photos, whether I'll be judging you (Because oh my gosh, the judgement we face as parents, it's ridiculous!) etc. Because none of it bothers me. I am used to working with all ages, the tired, the cranky, the hungry, the teething, the temperamental, the tearful, you name it, I can handle it.

I will work with your child if they're having a good moment, I will not force them if they're not having it at that moment, I can focus on other types of photos so we don't miss out on time,  while they regroup and see if that helps. I have found that flexibility in the routine, and allowing them to get to know me, works almost all the time.

When Will We Receive Our Images?

Up to 2 weeks

In my contracts it says to allow up to 2 weeks for delivery of your full gallery. The reality is that many times I'm up very early with one of my kids, and they play, and I end up working for hours and finish editing a session by the next day.

I have a built in time cushion to allow for life happening on my end, however, if you happen to get them early, know that the same amount of time was put into them, I just happened to get 5 hours to edit from 5-10am!

I'm Not Comfortable With My Images Being Shared

No problem, we'll accomadate you!

In this day and age, technology is a tricky subject and I'm convinced there is no "right way" . In each contract it is built in that there is a release that you sign that allows images to be shared on my website, and social media platforms. HOWEVER. If you do not want photos of your children, or of you to be shared, please share those concerns with me and I will work with you.

What is typical is that I will share 1-3 "sneak peek" images on Instagram and Facebook, that you are welcome to share with family and friends, and depending on the amount of clients I currently have, there might be a blog post done up with the highlights from your session. Again, if this is not something you are comfortable with, let me know what concerns you have, and I am more than willing to work with you!

OK! I'm Ready to Book, Now What?

Woohoo!

Yay! I can’t wait to work with you! Here's the New Client Questionnaire, fill it out,  and we’ll come up with a game plan for your session. After that, you’ll be able to sign your contract and submit your session deposit. 50% is due upon booking to reserve your date, and the remainder is due on the day of your session.

I also ask new clients to fill out a questionnaire, which helps me get to know you and your hopes/goals for the session. The more I know, the better I will be able to help make sure it's what you envision!
